In this technically oriented course the basics of modelling and simple plaster casting will be taught. Getting to know the materials, and meaningful ways of working, will be the main focus.

Working directly with the plaster
Walking into a bronze foundry or a gravestone workshop, one often sees old and dusty plaster casts, depicting the human figure, heroic and religious themes. Since ancient times and until the late 19th century, plaster was used as an in-between or temporary material. It was used in the mold making process or to make maquettes, which would later to be copied and carved in stone or cast in bronze.
